“…According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” 1 Peter 1:3 ESV
God promises us new life and a living hope. He planned the Promise from the beginning. He promises Adam and Eve in Genesis 3 that, though their sin separates them from God, the penalty will be paid in full by their own descendant. New life is possible. He reveals more of the Promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in Genesis 12, 22, 26 and 28: “In your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed.” The Old Testament steadily gives more insight of His Promise to come. More reasons to hope.
When dawn breaks at the start of the New Testament, the Promise arrives! Jesus, born of a virgin, lives a perfect life to show us how to live abundantly for the Lord. He gives us new life when He pays the penalty for our sins on the cross. His resurrection proves the power of God to fulfill His Promise of new life and a living hope. My hope lives because Jesus lives.
Lord, Thank You for new life and a living hope in Christ!
