And now this Good News has been announced to you by those who preached in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. 1 Peter 1:12b NLT
Lately, I’ve been thinking about faith. I was taught that God will always provide what I need. But what about when He asks me to do something beyond what I deem possible? Peter walked to Jesus on the water. That’s definitely beyond “circumstantially possible”! I want faith to step out and obey Him in the midst of what is unthinkable. Why fear? God always keeps His promises.
Can you imagine being an Old Testament prophet who was told to prophesy about the gift of deliverance, not knowing when or how it was to come about? 1 Peter 1:10-11 says they tried to learn when these things would happen and understand what the world would be like. Can you imagine announcing our salvation through Christ’s suffering before He was even born? They weren’t going to see it, but the message was for God’s chosen people in a future time. What faith! And what’s more, the message was about the long awaited, promised Messiah, our Deliverer.
Some people celebrate Christmas as a calendar event, time away from work or school; it’s just another holiday. But through faith, we celebrate God’s promised Deliverer. Without Him, our freedom is impossible.
Lord, thank You for providing all we need for daily living. Mostly, thank You for Your Son through whom freedom is possible.
